The Get To Know Me Tag!!

I found this tag over at MyBookishDream and decided to do this tag myself.  I always want you guys to know me, and as I blog, you will probably learn even more about me.

About Me:

Name:  Chrissie
Nickname:  Blommetjie – My Dad calls me that.
Birthday:  1st of June
Star Sign:  Gemini – The Twins
Occupation:  I am a Customer Service Representative

Designed with a snug-fit full page of typography, this print highlights the positive traits that are commonly associated with each astrological sign. A unique medallion in the center features a starry:
Truly who I am…

Appearance:

Hair Color:  My natural hair color is a general brown, however, I recently wanted a change and colored my hair a dark reddish-brown color.
Hair Length:  I have long hair, just past my shoulders, and are growing it.
Eye Color:  A dark brown, but my emotions can sometimes lighten my eye color.
Best Feature:  My eyes, I love my eyes.
Braces:  I’ve never needed to get braces.
Piercings:  Two piercings in each ear.  The earrings I am currently wearing were gifts from my 16th birthday from my parents and my grandmother on my mom’s side.
Tattoos:  I do not have any tattoos currently, but want to get one on my ring finger on my right hand – the word ‘Family’ with a small heart next to it.
Right or Left: Right handed.

Music and Cross
Tattoo I want on my right shoulder…

My Favorites:

Movie:  My absolute favorite movies are the first and second The Mummy movies, however, the third one was not as good.  My recent favorite is Safe Haven.  Surprisingly, my favorite genre is horrors.
TV Show:  This one is extremely hard to answer because there is a fairly large list of loves here.  Once Upon A Time and Grimm is my current all time favorites.  I also enjoy the X-files and Roswell, Once Upon a Time, Hellcats, Gossip Girl, Teen Wolf, Criminal Minds, Haven…  There are so much more.
Color:  Blue, specifically baby blue.  Also green and purple.
Song:  I have never been able to choose one song, ever.  At this moment I’d say it would be Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey.
Restaurant:  It would depend on what I am in the mood for.  If I want pizza I’d go to Romans Pizza – thick crust, Regina.  If I want pasta I’d go to Parrots – they have an amazing dish – Penne Bertucci (a lovely pasta dish with chicken, broccoli, parmesan cheese and a white sauce).
Shop:  Any bookstore, obviously, and if there is a sale – I would trample over anyone who gets in my way.  I also like Music Moods, and Musica – for DVD’s and Series….
Books:  I have a whole bookcase full of books.  Right now the Starcrossed series is my all time favorite, by Josephine Angelini.
Shoes:  Boots, ankle, knee high, cowboy, flats, wedge style.  BOOTS!

There are like 105 episodes so you may want to start watching now before there are too many:
Just bought season 5!!  Eeeeppp!!!!

How am I doing currently:

Feeling:  Lazy, it’s quiet at work and I’m wishing I can just go home now…
Single or Taken:  Single – happily so, for now.
Eating:  Homemade mini pizzas with different toppings.
Thinking about:  Writing a book and taking part in the NaNoWriMo challenge in November.  I haven’t yet decided whether I will be able to make time to actually keep up with that much writing yet!
Watching:  Season 2 of Once Upon A Time – want seasons 3 – 5 now!!!
Wearing:  Bootleg jean, black tank, a tribal cardigan in black, white, and blue, and black wedges.

Get Inspired by Fashion: Casual Outfits | Tory Goes Tribal:
Dream Outfit!!

My Future:

Want children:  Yes, hopefully, one day I’ll meet my future husband and have two kids.  Boys preferably.
Want to be married:  Yes, and I’d want a relationship like my mom and dad has.
Careers in mind:  Freelance writing, blogging and writing novels (working hard towards this dream career.)
Where you want to live:  Scotland or Ireland.  Maybe somewhere in Canada.  Still looking at a few place, want to visit these places before I decide.

Bookish Book Lover Tag

Hey, everyone!  I’m coming to with a book tag created by Shantelle Maryh.  I saw this tag on http://www.gossamerpages.com and decided to participate.

Had a long week, so far, and it’s only Thursday today.  Let’s hope the rest of the week flies by without any further problems…  Here’s hoping!

Rules:

  • Use the banner
  • Answer the questions
  • Use lots of book covers
  • Tag some friends

  •  What book are you currently reading?

Currently, I am reading the Interventions series by Hilary Dartt.  I am now halfway into the first book and am enjoying the story a lot.

  • What’s the last book you finished?

The last books I’ve read, last week, was The Blood of the Hydra by Michelle Madow and Craving Beauty by Jennifer Silverwood.

  • Favorite book you have read this year?

Right now I am leaning towards the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.  I have read the first four books and am hoping to read the last two later this month.

Last year my favorite series was the Starcrossed series by Josephine Angelini, and I still think of this series as my ultimate beloved series ever.

  • What genre have you read the most this year?

I am partial to reading young adult fiction in general.  I enjoy any and all paranormal books.

  • What genre have you read the least this year?

I don’t read much in the line of contemporary novels but have started looking into reading more of this specific genre.

Covers-Contemporary-01.png

  • What genre do you want to read more of?

Contemporary novels.

  • How many books have you read this year and what is your goal?

I started my goal of reading 50 books at the beginning of August, and at this stage, I am way behind on this goal.  So far I have only read 8 books.

facebook-sad-smiley-facebook-symbols-and-chat-emoticons-Do1w2U-clipart.png

  • What is the last book that you bought?

The last book I bought is Reflection Pond by Kacey Van Der Karr.  This book is on its way since I got it through Amazon, and should arrive at the end of the month.  Yay!

reflection-pond-ebook-1-van-1.jpg

  • What book are you saving up for to buy next?

These three books are next on my ‘to be bought’-list.

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake; Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare; Witch’s Pyre by Josephine Angelini.

  • What is a book you cannot wait to read?

  • What series would you recommend to everyone?

I have never recommended a book to everyone because I believe that every person has their own taste when it comes to books, and what I like might not be what everyone else likes.

If you like Greek mythology and paranormal young adult books, I would suggest the Elementals series by Michelle Madow (this series is growing on me).  Also, the Starcrossed series by Josephine Angelini is an amazing series, in these categories.

If I had to choose a series in the contemporary category, I would recommend the Dimily series by Estelle Maskame.  I have read book one and two, and actually enjoyed this series a lot.  Be advised that book to ended on a huge cliffhanger for me!

  • Who is an author you hope writes more?

Of course, the first author would have to be Stephanie Meyer.  I know there is a lot of controversy around her writing, however, I really want a sequel to The Host.

the-host-book-1.jpg

Also, I want to read more stories by Yelena Black, the author of Dance of Shadows.  If you love dancing (ballet), then this is one book I’d suggest – I could not put this book down.

Dance of Shadows - 300 dpi.jpg

  • Name a few books that your heart adores?

Only a few?  How much time do you have?  There are so many…

  • What series’ coming conclusion makes you sad?

At this stage, I am a bit behind on the series that are relevant currently.  One series I wished hadn’t ended so soon was the Anna Dressed in Blood series by Kendare Blake.

  • What books are on your wishlist?

There are way more than I could probably read in one lifetime, but I am ready for the challenge.

See here:

This is one of the longest book tags I have participated in, and I enjoyed every second.  It took me a while to answer each question since I wanted to make sure that you guys know why I choose the books I do.

Love Always,
C

NY by the Book Tag

Hey, guys.  I have been tagged to do a book tag today, created by KingdomBookBlog.  Please show some love to Zainab@TeenBookLit101 who tagged me…

Let’s start, shall we?

  1. WHAT BOOK IS ON YOUR NIGHTSTAND NOW?

Currently, I am reading The Portal to Kerberos by Michelle Madow.

michellemadow_theportaltokerberos_hr.jpg

  1. WHAT WAS THE LAST TRULY GREAT BOOK YOU READ?

I’d say that would be the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare (I’ve read books 1 to 4).

1

Also, Craving Beauty by Jennifer Silverwood.

CB.v1.jpg

  1. IF YOU COULD MEET ANY WRITER – DEAD OR ALIVE – WHO WOULD IT BE? AND WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO KNOW?

I’d love to meet Josephine Angelini as she wrote my most beloved series, the Starcrossed series.

starcrossedukseries.jpg

  1. WHAT BOOKS MIGHT WE BE SURPRISED TO FIND ON YOUR SHELF?

  1. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE YOUR PERSONAL LIBRARY?

By creative choice of my own.  I do not have a specific organizational process.  Generally the books I absolutely love are at the top and the rest lower down.

  1. WHAT BOOKS HAVE YOU ALWAYS MEANT TO READ AND HAVEN’T GOTTEN AROUND TO YET?

There are two whole piles of books that I just haven’t gotten to reading yet, and really want to.  The series The School for Good and Evil are at the top of my list to read, yet I still haven’t even added them to my want to read list.

Giveaway - Series.jpg

  1. DISAPPOINTING, OVERRATED, JUST NOT GOOD: WHAT BOOK DID YOU FEEL YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO LIKE BUT DIDN’T?

The Twilight series.  There was a huge hype around this series at that time and I chose to read the books before I watched the movies.  I did enjoy the books, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the hype made over them, intended.

  1. WHAT KIND OF STORIES ARE YOU DRAWN TO? ANY YOU STAY CLEAR OF?

I am drawn to supernatural, fantasy, fairy tale retellings and dystopian novels and series.  I tend to stay away from purely romance novels.

  1. IF YOU COULD REQUIRE THE PRESIDENT TO READ ONE BOOK, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Damn, I have no idea?  I guess I would have to say something in the line of the Hitler history, so that we can ensure something like that does not ever happen again?

  1. WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO READ NEXT?

I really want to finish reading the last two books in the Mortal Instruments series.

And also The Girl in Between by Laekan Zea Kemp.

That’s it for this tag.  Phew, I really had to think about some of these questions.  Thank you again for tagging me, Zainab.

Book Lovers’ Tag

This tag was found on the blog:  @onetoomanyadjectives.blogspot.co.za

I want to start doing these types of tags, as this gives you some insight into who I am, and how I approach reading.  Let me know if this is something you would like to see more of?

Question 1:  Do you have a specific place for reading?

Anywhere.  Seriously, as long as there is no distractions, I can read anywhere.  Even in a moving car (which some people have a problem with).

Question 2:  Bookmarks or a random piece of paper?

I made my own quilted bookmark to use for reading.

Question 3:  Can you just stop anywhere or do you need to finish a chapter?

I can stop anywhere, and just pick up where I left off, even in the middle of a page.  I have a good memory, so this does not bother me.

Question 4:  Do you eat or drink while reading?

Mainly, if I’m reading at home, I’ll make a cup of tea or just drink water.  But most of the time I get so wrapped up in my reading that I completely forget about everything around me.

Question 5:  Do you listen to music or watch TV while reading?

I will listen to some instrumental music while reading, when there is distractions around me.  Mostly I enjoy reading in silence.

Question 6:  One book or several at a time?

I read book by book.  I’ve never been good at reading more than one book at a time.

Question 7:  Do you prefer to read at home or elsewhere?

I prefer reading at home, but since I work five days a week, I have learned to read anywhere.

Question 8:  Do you read out loud or silently?

I read in silence.

Question 9:  Do you read ahead or skip pages?

Neither, I read page by page.  I am to scared of missing something important.

Question 10:  Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I try my best to keep the spine like new, but with paper-backs it is harder to do this.

Question 11:  Do you write in books?

No, never.  I keep a book close for making notes.

Please send me a link if you decide to do this tag, or let me know some of your answers.

Love Always,

Blogger Recognition Award

Hi, everyone.  I received my first nomination – by Beth @ Reading Every Night.  Thank you so much for nominating me!   Remember to check out her post at  https://readingeverynight.wordpress.com/author/bethdixon1406/

blogger-recognition-award

Rules:

  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
  • Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.

How my blog started…

Let me start by stating that I have wanted to start a book reviewing blog for years now.  Each time I got close, but then I talk myself out of it, thinking I won’t have enough time or content to successfully start a blog.  And I also thought that followers meant a lot more than I do now.  I realized that the followers mean nothing now that I blog about what I love and are passionate about.

My love for books isn’t really something my friends and family love too.  My mom ignited my love for books, but I am the only one reading English books in my family.

I wanted a platform where I can rant and rave about books as I read them, where I can yell at books or cry about books, and where I can find others with the same love for books.

I was also extremely impressed by the support I receive from other bloggers and readers of my blog.  This is not something I expected, but now I cannot wait to read, review and support other bloggers daily…

My advice for new bloggers…

  • If you love something and want to – just start.

This is obviously easier said than done.  I procrastinated for so long before I took the plunge.  When you are busy with your first post, there are butterflies in your stomach and the anticipation for whether others would love or hate your ideas is overwhelming.  But just breathe through it and publish that first post.

  • Remember to be yourself.

Your voice is different and unique, so do not be a copy of someone else.  Create ideas that interest you and make each post your own.  Odds are that someone will love what you do because it mirrors their inner voice – the readers want someone they can relate to and be friends with.

I’m not going to nominate other bloggers at this stage, most have done this already.  Please comment if you have any questions, and send me a link to yours if you have received this award and done this post.

Love Always,
C
